So long sad sack/A New York moment

It’s been a bit of an Emo day. I managed to resist feeling sorry for myself because I’d decided not to go to Berlin to see Lama Ole with the Prague Buddhist crew. I’m sure it would have been fun but what with a day in travel time there and back I thought it was high time I pushed myself here to finish some old projects and start a fresh one.

I’ve been listening to some fine tunes supplied by a friend who left Prague. Including one called “So long sad sacks”. So that’s what my days been about. I like my personal space & time but it has its hazards, because I also like company and these two desires don’t always fit well together. It’s a question of balance; equanimity and commitment.

Pleased that I was getting some shit done; like tidying my urban cave, sweeping aside some administrivia and sorting my e-life; I forgot my appetite. So I headed out for some groceries and a late lunch and found the Bohemia Bagels streetside café on the square was open. Their soup hit the spot; twice. The previous customers were American and the street scene was cinematic for a country-city Aussie like me, so my New York moment was complete when up walked Pete; from NY, another teacher from my school.

So my mood has followed the day and I’ve paid no mind to the passing weather. The cloudy morn has given way to a sunny afternoon and I think the random snow storms must be over by now and spring is really here. I’ll be heading out of the city most weekends from now on. My delicious winter’s hibernation is coming to an end. I managed to stay in one place, more or less, for 2 ½ months. That is about as long as I can hold out with routine, and it didn’t kill me, I may even keep the one I have now and do it again some other time, some other place. Watch this space, I’m gearing up to set sail again soon.

It's a damn shame you've got the gluten blues, otherwise you could have tasted the ever-so artery clogging Charles IV stack at the Bagel. I guess you could just ditch the pancakes...
