Things I have learned his week….

You can discover things that other people already knew about and it’s no less of a discovery than Columbus’ of the new world.

You can discover things for yourself, more than once, and the thrill doesn’t wear off.

Smoking reduces your fitness, and it makes a person smell bad, but I don’t mind, enough.

Regina Spektor makes me smile and do jigs.

I don’t actually have to be listening to anything to be able to get away with skankin’ or playing air guitar whilst I’m waiting for a tram. I just have to have my headphones in my ears.

2½ year old children don’t learn English in the same way as 55 year old business men, and they aren’t necessarily more fun; but they usually are.

I enjoy playing with toy trucks and making engine noises; more than learning about the differences between the implementation of EU procurement directives in two member countries on the basis of their individual laws which developed following the non-concurrent denationalisation of their utilities sectors; but only just.

Early spring weather in Prague is crazy, and I thought Melbourne had four seasons in one day. Divny počasi: Snow storms in the morning and sunny afternoons can and do occur in the one day.

Sometimes I have easy access to the net and sometimes I don’t;
and that’s ok.

Skype is freakin’ awesome; and there is a Czech verb for Skyping,
as there is in English.

Emotions are funny; like spring storms they come and go of their own accord, if you let them.

If you’re confused and you know it and you really ought not to show it, then do your best to look friendly & intelligent in the meantime and eventually things will become clear without effort.

People are just people wherever you (or they) are.

… and most people who own dogs, really do look like them.

You may have to go a long way from home to discover you can feel at home wherever you are.

If you drink a lot of black coffee during the day, you can’t sleep any faster at night.

You may not have a good day if the first words past your lips are,
“God damn”.

If you (re)orient your mind towards lasting values, before you set yourself upon the world, first thing in the morning; then whatever happens will be a gift, and an opportunity for developing your deepest qualities.

My latest fetish is punctuation; specifically, the semi-colon: she’s just so versatile; don’t you love it?

If you live on the 6th floor, then you can get fit, just by leaving and going home every day.

Mantras are free; can be said anywhere, anytime; don’t rely on belief, and are really effective; freeing your mind, so your ass will follow.

Music makes me loose control; having an iPod allows me to exploit this.
